On January 1, 2023, ICAO and IATA introduced a number of changes and new rules that affect everyone involved in the transport chain of dangerous goods, from the sender all the way to the recipient. CBTA, Competency-based Training and Assessment, is in many ways a new approach and a new fundamental view of training and competence. If we translate CBTA, it becomes Competency-based Training and Assessment. The latter in particular is completely new and also includes the employer's task of continuously assessing the employee's competence. Here it is important to emphasize the employer's significantly increased responsibility for maintaining competence within the company. It is no longer enough to send employees on a course and if they pass the exam, everything is in order. No, that is a bygone era.
