The IMDG Code (International Maritime Dangerous Goods Code) is the IMO's international regulations for the transport of packaged dangerous goods by sea. The Swedish regulations TSFS 2025:56, which incorporate the IMDG Code, contain a consolidated edition of the IMDG Code in Swedish. The translation is based on the English version IMDG Code 42-24 Edition 2024, which is fully applicable from 1 January 2026.

The IMDG Code consists of the following parts, among others:

  • General provisions, definitions and training
  • Classification
  • List of dangerous goods, special provisions and exemptions
  • Regulations for packaging and tanks
  • Shipping regulations
  • Manufacturing and testing of packaging, IBC containers, large packaging, UN tanks, MEG containers and tank vehicles
  • Provisions on transport procedures
